Large Cocaine Haul Found In Co Tyrone
One of the largest ever hauls of cocaine has been made in Co Tyrone, police have said.
Earlier this week (25 November), an estimated 50kg of suspected cocaine was uncovered at a commercial premises. Following a tip-off, officers examined a recently-delivered container of furniture and found two suitcases filled with bags of white powder. These tested positive for cocaine.
Detective Superintendent Noel Mullan, from Organised Crime Branch, said a "conservative value" for the hail would be £2.5m, but a street value would be "substantially higher".
He added: "There is no suggestion that the company based at the premises knew what was in the container."
In an unconnected incident, Dutch authorities are understood to have seized 20kg of cocaine at a port in Holland which was destined for Co Fermanagh. This seizure has been "conservatively valued at £1 million".
No arrests were made in either seizure.
