Man Shot Dead In Ballymoney
A man in his 40s has been shot dead in Ballymoney, Co Antrim.
The incident happened outside a house at Riverview Park at around 10.30pm on Monday (5 January).
He has since been named as Brian McIlhagga. He was 42.
He had been beaten by an armed gang and shot once in the leg.
The father-of-five, originally from Ballymena, died from his injuries.
It is understood a woman in her 30s was also assaulted at the scene.
Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
She and her four children, all under the age of 13, were in the property at the time.
Sinn Féin MLA, Daithí McKay, said: "There is shock in the community at the news that a man has been gunned down in a residential area of Ballymoney.
"This murder is a terrible blow to the victim's family and my thoughts are with them as they come to terms with this dreadful news.
"I also wish a speedy recovery to the woman assaulted at the scene.
"Those behind this murder need to taken off the streets and anyone with any information on this attack should bring it immediately to the PSNI."
Justice Minister David Ford added: "There is no excuse for violence, nor any cause to justify it. It is time those responsible realised that and accepted the will of the people that Northern Ireland should move forward in peace.
"I offer my deepest sympathies to the family at this time."

Attempted Carjacking In West Belfast
Police are investigating an attempted carjacking in west Belfast on Tuesday, November 19th. At around 5:30pm, a man entered a parked car at Hillhead Court and attempted to steal it. A woman passenger was assaulted when she resisted the man's demands. The suspect, described as a man in his 20s wearing all black, fled the scene on foot.

Wallet Belonging To Missing Ballymoney Man Found
The wallet belonging to missing Ballymoney man, Norman Galbraith, has been found. Mr Galbraith, 66, has not been seen since he left to go to a local shop on Friday. Police said a number of sightings have been reported and they believe he may have walked to his childhood home Castlerock.

Man Shot In Ballymoney
A man has been shot in both legs in Ballymoney, Co Antrim. The incident occurred in the Finvoy Road area at approximately 9.45pm on Thursday. He has been taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Fresh Arrest Over Massereene Barracks Murders
It has just emerged that a 44-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murders of two soldiers (pictured) at Massereene Barracks in Antrim. The man was arrested in Magherafelt, Co Londonderry, on Friday morning at the same time as related searches were being carried out in Pomeroy and Dungannon, both in Co Tyrone.
