Head Of Translink Quits To Preach Gospel
The head of Translink has announced he is to stand down from his £155,000 post to take up a life of preaching.
David Strahan made the announcement just three months after taking on the role. He has said he will now devote his life to preaching the gospel.
"It has been an immense privilege for me to lead some great organisations including Phoenix Supply, Dee Valley Group and latterly Translink," he said.
"I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to make a difference in these organisations and appreciate the support I received from all my colleagues. I will continue to lead Translink until the Autumn of this year which allows time for my successor to be appointed.
"In the meantime I will continue to drive forward the efficiency and transformation programme I have already commenced and ensure that Translink delivers cost effective public transport services."
Translink chairman John Trethowan said: "While we are sorry to lose David we respect his decision and wish him every success with his future endeavours. On behalf of the Board of Translink I want to record our thanks to David for all his hard work and leadership of the organisation through a period of significant funding challenges."

Calls For Translink Not To Drift Into Deficit
Alliance Regional Development spokesperson Stewart Dickson MLA has called on the Department for Regional Development to not let Translink drift into deficit. Translink is expected to make a £2 million profit this year but a £22 million deficit over the two years after that.

Easyjet announce direct Belfast to Ibiza flights
Low cost airline Easyjet has today announced a new direct route from Belfast to Ibiza. The flights will begin to operate from July 7 2007 and continue throughout the summer months. Easyjet is also launching direct flights to the Spanish island from Bristol and Glasgow. Single fares are expected to cost from £31.99.
