Workman injured in gas explosion

A man has been injured following a gas explosion at an industrial site in north Belfast.

The workman was injured at a demolition site on Hillview Road in the Oldpark area on Friday when the gas cylinder exploded.

He was taken to hospital suffering from facial and upper body burns, however it is not known how seriously he was injured.

The Health and Safety Executive and the Fire Brigade attended the scene shortly afterwards.

Residents had to be evacuated from their homes following a suspected gas leak in L'Derry. The incident happened in the Spencer Road area close to the train station. 12 people had to be taken to hospital after suffering headaches, however no-one is believed to be seriously injured. The road was closed and the fire service carried out checks.

Two injured in Bangor gas explosion
Police are investigating a gas explosion at a house in Bangor in which two people were injured – one seriously. The back of the house at Dufferin Avenue was severely damaged in the blast, which occurred at about 11pm last night. Police say a gas cylinder caused the explosion.

Four Children And Woman Injured In Gas Explosion
Four children and a woman have been injured in a gas explosion in Co Down. The incident happened at a house in the Barcroft Park area in Newry at around 6.30pm on Monday, 20 November. The woman, three boys and a girl were all treated for burns to their faces and hands.

Man Injured In Gas Explosion That Blew Roof Off Boat In Co Fermanagh
A man has been injured in a gas explosion that blew the roof off a boat on the River Erne in Co Fermanagh. The incident occurred at Johnstons Shore just before 11am on Wednesday, 19 July. The man made his way to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, however they are not believed to be life threatening.
