Two injured in Bangor gas explosion
Police are investigating a gas explosion at a house in Bangor in which two people were injured – one seriously.
The back of the house at Dufferin Avenue was severely damaged in the blast, which occurred at about 11pm last night. Police say a gas cylinder caused the explosion.
One of the injured was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where his condition is described as "serious but stable".
Neighbouring houses were also damaged in the explosion.
George Pritchard, who lives in the next house, said he thought it was a "bomb exploding".
Mr Pritchard described how his windows blew out and that there was now "a great big hole on the wall on one side where the bed was and the whole back of it is gone".
Divisional fire commander Alastair Rooney also said he had never seen such devastation from a gas explosion during his 26 years of service.

Pedestrian Injured In Belfast Hit-and-Run
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a hit-and-run incident in the Botanic Avenue area of Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning. Officers were called to the scene shortly before 1.30am after a male pedestrian was struck by a maroon Mazda. Despite being injured, the pedestrian left the area before police arrived.

Workman injured in gas explosion
A man has been injured following a gas explosion at an industrial site in north Belfast. The workman was injured at a demolition site on Hillview Road in the Oldpark area on Friday when the gas cylinder exploded. He was taken to hospital suffering from facial and upper body burns, however it is not known how seriously he was injured.

Teenage girls in hospital following explosion
Two teenage girls are in hospital after a gas cylinder exploded in a house in east Belfast. The derelict house on Tildarg Street, off the Woodstock Road collapsed following the explosion at 3pm on Sunday afternoon. Three girls and two boys had been in the house at the time, and police have revealed that one of them had been handling a gas cylinder.

Residents Evacuated Following Suspected Gas Leak In L'Derry
Residents had to be evacuated from their homes following a suspected gas leak in L'Derry. The incident happened in the Spencer Road area close to the train station. 12 people had to be taken to hospital after suffering headaches, however no-one is believed to be seriously injured. The road was closed and the fire service carried out checks.
