Masked Men Force Gritter Lorry To Carry 'Device' To Police Station

An investigation is underway after a group of masked men forced a gritter lorry driver to take a "device" to Strand Road Police Station in L'Derry.

It is understood the driver was stopped by a group of masked men at about 6am on Friday morning, threw something into the back of the lorry and ordered him to drive to the station.

The driver drove his lorry to Madam's Bank Road before abandoning it and raising the alarm.

Police subsequently found nothing in the vehicles.

It follows a similar incident in the city on Wednesday, when an NIE worker was attacked by a group of masked men. His vehicle was set on fire.
