Mother and daughter 'shaken' following carjacking

A pregnant mother and her 11-year-old daughter have been left badly shaken after their car was hijacked at a petrol station on the outskirts of Belfast last night.

The woman's daughter was ordered out of her mother's car by two youths who forced their way into the vehicle at a filling station on the Antrim Road, Glengormley. The girl's mother was inside the filling station shop at the time of the incident.

The men then made off followed by a BMW car in which the two youth's had arrived.

The mother and daughter were uninjured during the incident which occurred at around 9pm.

The BMW was later spotted by a passing police officers who subsequently chased, then apprehended the occupants arresting five men.

An abandoned Volkswagon Golf was later discovered in north Belfast but it is not yet known if this was the woman's car.

Mother and daughter injured in hit and run incident
Police are appealing for witnesses following a hit run incident involving a woman and child in Co Londonderry on Tuesday. The incident, which occurred on a by-pass in Limavady shortly before 5pm, left the woman and her two-year-old daughter injured after their vehicle was hit by a passing Jeep.

Mother And Daughter Rescued From South Belfast House Fire
A mother and daughter have been rescued following a fire at their home in south Belfast. The incident happened at a property in Kirkistown Walk in the Belvoir area in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Firefighters attended the scene and led the mother and daughter to safety.

Four Men And A Teenager Charged Over L'Derry Filling Station Fight
Five people, including a teenager boy, have been charged over a group fight at a L'Derry filling station. A number of people were involved in a fight following a multi-car collision at the filling station on the Buncrana Road at about 12.40 on Tuesday 17 August.

Demolition Phase For Sandyknowes Centre
Demolition work is currently well advanced on the out-dated and dilapidated Northcott Shopping Centre in Glengormley. After weeks of uncertainty over a start date and a Tesco refusal to comment, the existing store closed at the end of April so that work could be started on the multi-million pound replacement Sandyknowes Shopping Centre.

Mother And Child Last Seen In South Belfast Missing
Police are concerned for the welfare of a mother and daughter who were last seen in south Belfast. Petia Fleming and her eight-year-old daughter Rhianna were seen in the Newtownbreda area on Wednesday morning. Petia is described as around 5ft 4inches in height, of slim build and with collar-length blond hair.
