Play Park Destroyed In South Belfast
A play park has been destroyed in south Belfast.
Police are appealing for information to the criminal damage of the park in the Downpatrick Street area of Crossgar.
The incident occurred between the evening of Saturday 11 July and the morning of Sunday 12 July.
A tyre is believed to have been set alight causing substantial damage, estimated to amount to tens of thousand of pounds.
SDLP South Down MP Margaret Ritchie said: "Those behind this attack either do not understand or care that local councils are running a tight budget and cannot easily afford to replace facilities such as the one they destroyed.
"This incident of mindless vandalism has carried a great cost for local children who will be deprived of active outdoor play until the play-park can be restored."
