Two Major Movies To Be Made In L'Derry
Over 1,000 new jobs are expected to be created following the announcement that two major movies are to be made at a former British army site in Ballykelly, L'Derry.
Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hÓisín welcomed the announcement and said it will also contribute to other sectors in the local economy.
Mr Ó hOisín said: "It is great news for the entire area that Shackleton studios have announced two major productions are to be made at Ballykelly.
"These high budget films will create up to 1,000 jobs on site as well as contributing to other sectors in the local economy through the retail and hostelry trade.
"The Executive have been tasked with transforming the former army barracks at Ballykelly and this announcement is a welcome addition to the work already carried out.
"The site which will also be home to the new DARD headquarters has the potential to transform the economic fortunes of the Limavady region. So the offices of DCAL and OFMdFM need to be congratulated in bringing this latest initiative to Ballykelly."
