£10,000 To Be Shared Between Eight Separate Regional Development Squads
Belfast City Council has announced it has shared £10,000 between eight separate Regional Development Squads.
The squads act as 'hot houses' for young talent offering intensive coaching and providing increased competition experience for young contenders.
Lord Mayor, Arder Carson, said: "Taking part in sport is great training for life - it offers not only improved health and fitness, but trains individuals in team working, leadership, discipline and tactical thinking.
"It encourages people to strive for something extra in their daily lives and that’s why it is important that the council support it and our upcoming stars. Success, even if for many of us it is just basking in reflected glory, can unite us and provide another reason to be proud of our city."
