Man Assaulted In Paramilitary Style Attack In Co Antrim

A man has been assaulted with baseball bats and a sledgehammer in a paramilitary style attack in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim.

Four masked men forced their way into a house in the Rosebrook Avenue area just before 9pm on Wednesday.

The 39-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment, however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Constable Michael Sweeney said: "I would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, or who knows anything about this incident, to contact detectives at Larne Police Station on the non emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Man Extradited From US Over Historical Child Sex Abuse
A 68-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for a series of indecent assaults on a child in the 1970s. Damien Desmond Anderson, originally from L'Derry, was extradited from the US to face justice. He was convicted of 12 counts of indecent assault against a female who was 11 years old at the time of the abuse.

Man Arrested Over Loyalist Paramilitary Activity
A man has been arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into loyalist paramilitary activity. The 36-year-old suspect is being held over activity in the south east Antrim area, according to the PSNI. He has been detained in custody and is helping officers with their enquiries.

Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast
Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.
