Man Arrested In Manchester Questioned Over NI Drug Supply

Police are continuing to question a 38-year-old man as part of an ongoing investigation into drugs supply into Northern Ireland.

The man was arrested in the Manchester area of Monday before being brought to Strand Road Police Station in L'Derry.

Detective Inspector Tom McClure, from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch, said: "This arrest is the latest in Operation Meris which is investigating the supply of large quantities of controlled drugs into and throughout Northern Ireland in 2013-14. Police seized drugs worth £2.3 million in six interventions. Nine people have already been convicted. Another 16 defendants are awaiting trial. We believe this latest arrest is significant and our enquiries are continuing."

Two Men Charged With 24 Burglaries

Two men have been charged in connection with a total of 24 burglaries and three attempted burglaries following an operation by the PSNI's Reactive and Organised Crime unit.

The charges are in connection with a series of 15 commercial burglaries in South and East Belfast that occurred between July and November 2015.

One of the men, aged 26, has also been charged with possession of a class B controlled drug and possession of a class C controlled drug.

Many Arrests In Gardaí Drugs Raids
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and 'crack' cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.
