Police Officer 'Fortunate' Not To Have Lost His Eye During Lurgan Attack
A policeman is "fortunate" not to have lost his eye during an attack in Lurgan on Friday.
The PSNI released a photo which shows the officers eye was badly scratched in the incident.
One person has been arrested in connection with the assault, however no other details have been released.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Keeping People Safe. It sounds easy, right? Wrong! Sure, there's a lot of stuff we do that takes very little effort but makes a big difference. There are things we do day in, day out, which people take for granted and which we consider to be 'part of the job'.
"Sadly though, keeping people safe often means stepping into that gap between law abiding members of the community and people wanting to do them harm. The officer pictured here sustained this injury on Friday night in Lurgan. We won't be releasing details of the incident, other than to assure you that someone was arrested, but this officer is fortunate to still have his eyesight intact."
