Community Hub Launches In North Belfast

A new EU funded community hub has launched in north Belfast.

Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly said the community complex at Girdwood is good for the whole community.

He said: "At last the day has arrived when we finally realise the vision set out for this former British army Barracks for the good of the whole community of North Belfast.

"Today is a fantastic day for everyone who campaigned for this site to become a hub of leisure, housing, community activity, training and employment opportunities.

"Yet this is only the start of unlocking the full potential of what will be possible here at Girdwood.

"We are sending out a message of hope and political leadership because if it can be achieved in North Belfast it can be achieved anywhere."
