Over 50 Firefighters Tackle Blaze On Ship In L'Derry

More than 50 firefighters have battled a fire in a ship in L'Derry.

Fire crews were alerted shortly before 7am on Tuesday after reports of a blaze on a ship at Lishally Port.

It is believed to have started in one of the cabins.

Emergency services attended at the scene and worked with Port Authority and the ships crew.

The NIFRS finished attending to the fire shortly after 8.20am.

Appeal Following Arson Attack In L'Derry
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a serious arson attack in the Clon Dara area of L'Derry on Saturday, 23 November. Shortly before 8.20pm, police received a report that an accelerant had been used to ignite the front door and letterbox of a house in the area.

Minister Condemns Attacks On Fire Crews
Attacks on fire crews place their lives in danger and put communities at risk, said Public Safety Minister Michael McGimpsey today. Condemning a further spate of attacks on firefighters in Dungannon and Londonderry over the weekend, the Minister said it was absolutely unacceptable for anyone to assault emergency workers.

Motorist dies in Co Armagh school bus crash
A man has died following a collision between a car and a school bus in Co Armagh this morning. The victim, named as Jason Davidson Murray, 26, from Shandon Park in Newry, died when his car collided with the bus at around 8.30am on the Tandragee Road outside Newry.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Fire crews deal with grain silo blaze
The Ni Fire Brigade have dealt with an early morning fire at a grain storage silo in Belfast's Harbour Estate. Fire crews were called to the blaze which broke out in the upper levels of the grain silo at Pollock Dock at around 4am this morning.
