Police Appeal Following Armed Robbery In Co Antrim
Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a shop in Co Antrim.
The incident happened in the Scotch Quarter area of Carrickfergus at around 8.50pm on Saturday.
Two men wearing masks and dark clothing entered the newsagents. One of the men was armed with a suspected firearm and they made off on foot with a sum of money and tobacco.
No-one was injured in the incident.
Detective Constable Loreen Glenn said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area, or anyone who knows anything about this armed robbery, to contact detectives at Ballymena Police Station on the non emergency number 101.
"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery at a shop in Ballymena, Co Antrim. The incident occurred at a shop in the Larne Road area just after 7.40pm on Wednesday. A masked man armed with a knife demanded a staff member to open the till. However, the employee threw water over him and he made off empty handed.

Police are appealing for information in connection with an armed robbery at a bookmakers in Belfast. Two men, one armed with a knife, entered the premises on Botanic Avenue in south Belfast on Tuesday at around 2.40pm. A male customer confronted the thief with a knife, and sustained a cut on his arm. The men made off on foot empty-handed.
