Woman Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A woman has been convicted for claiming benefits she was not entitled to at Belfast Magistrates' Court.
Lynda Roughley from Newtownabbey claimed Income Support, Employment and Support Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £3,069 while failing to declare an occupational pension. She was given a six month prison sentence suspended for three years.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
GM Design Associates To Assist DSD To Choose Developer For Bangor Scheme
GM Design Associates have been selected to assist the Department for Social Development (DSD) to identify a developer to deliver the Queen's Parade Redevelopment Scheme in Bangor, Co Down.
A development brief will be drawn up which will be put to the market to identify a private sector partner who will deliver the project.
The development will see in excess of 25,000 sq metres of floor space utilised to support the regeneration of the area and will include two hotels, shopping areas and car parking facilities.
Social Development Minister Lord Morrow MLA said the appointment is a key step in the development process and he expects to have identified a preferred development partner by September 2016.
The Minister said: "The appointment of this multi-disciplinary team is another positive step towards bringing forward a comprehensive Regeneration Scheme for Bangor and in particular the run down area of Queen's Parade which is in much need of revitalisation and regeneration."
Additional £20m Funding Allocated For Education
The Finance Minister has allocated an additional £20 million towards education in Northern Ireland.
Education Minister John O'Dowd welcomed the decision.
He said: "This additional funding further demonstrates the Executive’s commitment to our young people's future, by supporting education, a cornerstone of the society in which we live and a foundation for the future of all our young people."

Study to reshape Belfast city centre launched
NIO Minister Des Browne has today announced the start of a review of Belfast city's regeneration policy following the adoption of the Victoria Square Development Scheme last month. The GB-based consultancy, G V A Grimley, has been engaged to conduct the research and is expected to report to the Department by the end of April.

REFURBISHED DERRY WOMEN’S CENTRE OPENS
A £556,000 refurbishment of the Beibhinn House women’s centre at Guildhall Square and the Little Acorns community pre-school at Coshquin were officially opened on Thursday 21 June. Both projects were supported by funding from the Department for Social Development and the EU Special Support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation.
