Revenge Porn To Become Criminal Offence In NI
Revenge porn is to become a criminal offence in Northern Ireland.
The offence, which can carry up to two years behind bars, has been passed by Stormont members.
DUP MLA Alastair Ross, who proposed the measure, said: "We all now have smartphones capable of taking photographs and videos, all of which can be shared online almost instantly.
"Therefore, I think that the law needs to keep pace with technological changes and recognise the world that we live in today.
"The Justice Committee believes that introducing a specific offence to deal with revenge porn will assist the police and the Public Prosecution Service in tackling this obnoxious crime."

Man Jailed In Connection With Annahilt Cannabis Farm
The PSNI has welcomed the sentencing of a man at Craigavon Crown Court in connection with a cannabis farm disovered in Annahilt in February, 2023. Clive Weir, from the Annahilt area, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 18 months on licence.

Announced by the Department of Justice, the new laws implement recommendations made by Sir John Gillen in his Review into the law and procedures in serious sexual offences.
