Pet Cat Seriously Injured After Being Set On Fire Co Down
A pet cat has suffered serious injuries after being set on fire in Co Down.
The 18-month-old cat named Tiger is being treated for burns at a veterinary clinic.
Police described the attack as "utterly disgusting".
The owners are very shocked and upset, according to the police.
Chief Inspector Derek McCamley said: "It is hard to understand why someone would do this to a defenceless vulnerable family pet but we need to know who did this. We need to speak to anyone who was in the area of Kernaghan Park Hillsborough before 5pm on Wednesday 09 March when the cat was found. We want to know about suspicious activity. We want people to come forward if they heard or saw anything untoward, and give us descriptions of anyone in the area throughout the day. The number to call is 101 and ask to speak to Lisburn PSNI but if you would rather pass information anonymously you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Man Extradited From US Over Historical Child Sex Abuse
A 68-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for a series of indecent assaults on a child in the 1970s. Damien Desmond Anderson, originally from L'Derry, was extradited from the US to face justice. He was convicted of 12 counts of indecent assault against a female who was 11 years old at the time of the abuse.

Police Appeal After Arson Attack In Newtownards
Detectives have renewed an appeal for information following a deliberate arson attack at a vacant property in the Weaver's Grange area of Newtownards. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 17 November, 2023. Police and firefighters were called to the scene at around 12:40am.

Concern over spate of 'suspicious' cat poisonings
Police in Donaghadee have appealed for information following the deaths of three cats in November and December 2005. The animals, which all belonged to the one family, are believed to have been poisoned by anti-freeze or a similar toxic substance.

Police have launched an investigation after a cat was found decapitated in Co Armagh. The pet, named Mylo, was found dead in the Ballyoran Park area of Portadown on Sunday, 05 November. Officers believe the pet was killed by a firework or banger. Its owners described Mylo as "very trusting and friendly".
