Concern over spate of 'suspicious' cat poisonings
Police in Donaghadee have appealed for information following the deaths of three cats in November and December 2005.
The animals, which all belonged to the one family, are believed to have been poisoned by anti-freeze or a similar toxic substance.
Officers have asked anyone in the Donaghadee area who may have lost a pet and believe it could have been poisoned to come forward.
Animals who have ingested this product can appear to stagger, have a lack of co-ordination, be disorientated, lethargic or listless, these symptoms can also be accompanied by vomiting.
While detectives suspect this case may have been deliberate, it may have been accidental. Police have also warned that these chemicals are not only harmful to domestic pets but can also be extremely dangerous to children and have asked anyone who may have reason to use them to remember to dispose of them in an appropriate manner.
Anyone with any information on the deaths of these cats are asked to get in touch with police in Donaghadee on 0845 600 8000.
