Farmer Convicted For Causing Unnecessary Suffering To Bovine Animal
A Magherafelt farmer has been convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to a bovine animal at Magherafelt Magistrates' Court.
Ian Wilson pleaded guilty and was fined £300 plus a £15 offender's levy.
The case arose after an anonymous complaint by a member of the public to the Department of Agriculture and Regional Development (DARD). Veterinary Service Officers visited Mr Wilson's farm and discovered an animal with a fractured leg, and in the opinion of the Veterinary Officer the animal had the injury for some time. The Veterinary Officer euthanased the animal to prevent it suffering further.
Work Starts On Sewer Rehabilitation Programme In Co Down
Dawson Wam in partnership with NI Water has started work on a sewer rehabilitation programme in Dundrum, Co Down.
The work in Dundrum is part of NI Water’s ongoing Sewerage Rehabilitation Programme and is expected to take approximate six months.
The work may include localised repairs, the installation of 'liners' in existing sewers, replacing sewers which are beyond their natural lifespan as well as other associated work. The work will be carried out using specialist 'no-dig' or 'low-dig' methods which are designed to minimise disruption and duration of the work. However it will be necessary at some locations to re-lay pipes by traditional 'open-dig' methods.
The rehabilitation works will be carried out at: Main Street, McMinns Lane, Carrigvale, Castle Heights, Castle Hill, Castleglen Way, Church View, De Courcey, Dromara Road, Kilmegan Court, Manse Road, Murlough View, Robin Hill, St Donards Walk.
Some temporary road closures may be needed in the area however diversions will be put in place.
Call For PSNI To Produce Documents For Arlene Arkinson Inquest
Sinn Féin candidate Grace McDermott has said it is disgraceful that the PSNI is continuing to deny full disclosure to the family of murdered Tyrone teenager Arlene Arkinson.
She said: "It is unacceptable that the PSNI are further adding to the anguish of the Arkinson family by delaying the inquest into Arlene’s death yet again by withholding information from her inquest.
"The Arkinson family has been waiting over 20 years on this inquest and it’s shocking that the police have delayed proceedings yet again.
"It is important the inquest proceeds with full disclosure from the PSNI so the family can begin to get to the truth about Arlene's disappearance and murder."
