Planning Approved For New Student Accommodation In Belfast
Belfast City Council has approved planning permission for a new student accommodation in the city.
A 740-bedroom complex is to be developed on a vacant site in College Avenue in the city centre.
The development, by McAleer and Rushe, will include 647 bedrooms and 93 studio rooms, with retail outlets on the ground floor.
Planning permission was also granted for the conversion of the former St Malachy's Convent House, on the corner of Joy Street and Sussex Place, into an apartment complex.
The development will involve the retention and renovation of the existing Victorian building, with the addition of a new extension at the rear, to provide six one-bedroom and six two-bedroom apartments.

Two Hotels To Be Developed In Belfast

Belfast City Council To Reform Planning Services
Belfast City Council has announced it's intention to reform Planning Services, with a renewed focus on how it communicates with various customer groups. The announcement follows recommendations in a report it commissioned by Scotland's former Chief Planner, Jim Mackinnon CBE and broad consultation with a number of stakeholder groups.
