Two Arrested Following Thefts
Two people have been arrested following a theft incident.
At around midday on Thursday, 5 May, police received a report of a man and woman who had previously been involved in thefts from chemist shops. Their descriptions were circulated and around an hour later police received a further report that the pair were spotted running along William Street.
Officers who were on patrol identified themselves to the couple who ran off. The officers followed them and detained a 26-year-old female.
She was arrested on suspicion of theft in relation to thefts in Magherafelt, Cookstown and Portadown.
A man, aged 31, was arrested in the Shillington Street area in relation to theft, four outstanding bench warrants, a money warrant and breach of bail.
The woman was later released on bail pending further enquiries.
The man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Lisburn To Host Screening Of NI v Germany Football Match
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has confirmed it will screen Northern Ireland's football match against Germany on Tuesday 21 June. The event is aimed at families and activities will begin at 3pm with the match kicking off at 5pm. It will be held at Market Square Lisburn.
Further details will be released in due course.
Alderman Paul Porter, Chairman of the Leisure and Community Development Committee, said: "We are delighted to announce that the Northern Ireland v Germany football match will be screened in the City Centre on the 21st June, with some form of pre-match entertainment for families from the early afternoon. As details are finalised they will be made available."
Alderman Allan Ewart added: "The new public realm space is now completed and the council considered it would be a great location for an open-air event. I hope local residents will plan to attend this event as there is fantastic support for Northern Ireland in the forthcoming UEFA competition.
Translink Unveils New Flexible Ticket Option
Translink has introduced a new flexible ticket option for passengers.
The ticket allows those travelling on Ulsterbus, Goldline and NI Railways to use their bus or rail ticket to travel on any of three above services at no additional cost after 6.30 p.m.
Lynda Shannon, Communications Manager, Translink said: "It is a significant change, which for the first time, allows people to use their bus or coach ticket to travel by train and vice versa.
"This initiative will offer our customers the freedom to choose the service that best suits them should their travel needs change, without having to worry about additional costs. It's ideal for passengers who travel to work by bus or train who want to head out somewhere after a busy day."

Scam Warning Issued Following Taylor Swift Ticket Fraud
The PSNI in Derry City & Strabane have warned people to be wary of scammers following a report this week of a person who thought they'd bought tickets online for a Taylor Swift concert only to find out they'd been swindled. According to police, it was reported that a person had found tickets for the concert on an online platform.

Almost £300,000 Lost To Ticket Fraud In 2023
People have been urged to be wary of scammers when booking concert and event tickets, after figures revealed that almost £300,000 was lost to ticket fraud in Northern Ireland in 2023. Data from Action Fraud shows nationally £6.7 million was lost to this type of crime. In Northern Ireland the total reported losses came in at £291,344.
