M&S to create 600 part-time Xmas jobs
Marks & Spencer is set to create over 600 part-time jobs in Northern Ireland during the Christmas period.
However, instead of the usual in-house interviews, interested applicants only have to take part in a simple 20-minute telephone interview to apply for a position.
Lyn McBriar, Regional Personnel Manager for Marks & Spencer in Northern Ireland said: "We need people who can build an instant rapport with customers no matter how busy the store and who will be flexible enough to support their colleagues in whatever way is necessary.
"Our new recruitment process is designed to help us find people who have these qualities.”
In return for being prepared to work at least one evening a week and at weekends, the company is promising to provide a competitive benefit package including a Christmas discount card for successful applicants.
Marks & Spencer has seven local stores in Lisburn, Belfast, Bangor, Ballymena, Foyleside, Newry and Newtownbreda.

M&S to axe 108 jobs in Claudy
Marks & Spencer has announced it is to axe more than 100 jobs at its buying facility in Co Londonderry. A spokesperson for the company said that the decision was a result of the Claudy operation being “no longer viable” because all garments in future will be bought through a central department in London.
