Woman Dies Suddenly At Craigavon Hospital

Police have launched an investigation following the sudden death of a woman at Craigavon Area Hospital on Wednesday, 18 May.

It is believed the 50-year-old died following a fall.

The Southern Health and Social Care described it as a "tragic accident".

A spokesperson from the Trust said: "We can confirm the tragic incident today involving the death of a patient at Craigavon Area Hospital. We re co-operating fully with the PSNI investigation."

Hygiene Testing Failed For Five NI Hospitals
Eleven wards in total in five hospitals have required a further inspection into Hygiene and infection by the Regulation and Quality improvement Authority. The five hospitals involved were The Royal Victoria and City Hospital which are both located in Belfast. The Ulster in Dundonald, The Altnagelvin in Derry and the Craigavon Area Hospital.

Royal Victoria Hospital to be main regional trauma centre
The Royal Victoria Hospital is to receive a major boost from the Department of Health, by becoming the regional centre for serious trauma cases in Northern Ireland. It is understood that ambulances are to be encouraged to bypass other smaller Accident and Emergency units and to take patients directly to the Royal.

Craigavon Area Hospital's emergency general surgery services are to be "permanently consolidated", following Department of Health (DoH) approval of the Southern Health and Social Care Trust decision.

E.coli Detected At Craigavon Area Hospital
E.coli has been detected at a hospital in Craigavon, according to the Southern Health Trust. The Trust confirmed E.coli 0157 was detected in a kitchen at Craigavon Area Hospital during routine sampling. In a statement the Trust said: "To date, no patients, staff or members of the public have shown symptoms of being affected by this bacteria.

New cancer building opens at Craigavon Area Hospital
The first purpose built cancer unit in Northern Ireland opened on November 27 at Craigavon Area Hospital. The ‘Macmillan Building’ is the flagship of the partnership between Macmillan Cancer Relief, Craigavon area Hospital and the Southern Health and Social Services Board to develop cancer services in the Southern Area.
