A man has been shot in both legs following a paramilitary style shooting in Co Antrim.

The incident happened in the Dunluskin Gardens area in Carrickfergus at around 5.30pm on Wednesday, 29 June.

The victim is currently being treated in hospital.

Chief Inspector Rosemary Thompson is appealing to anyone who was in the area of Dunluskin Gardens and may have witnessed the incident to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime in Larne.

Alliance East Antrim MLA Stewart Dickson said: "There can never be any excuse for people taking the law into their own hands. Those behind this attack must face the full force of the law. Local people have had enough and do not want to see it."
