Snowdrops to raise money for NI Children’s Hospice
A Dunmurry primary school was the backdrop today for the launch of the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice Snowdrop Appeal.
Launching the appeal at Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary School in Dunmurry the charity called on green-fingered children all over Northern Ireland to plant snowdrop gardens at their schools, either outdoors or in pots. Local schools and nurseries throughout the province may purchase the bulbs as part of the Snowdrop Appeal.
Nuala Rodgers, Schools Fundraiser with Northern Ireland Hospice Care is delighted with the response to the Snowdrop Appeal to date. She said: “Schools from across Northern Ireland have been busy organising events to raise money for snowdrop bulbs.
"It costs £1½ million each year to provide care and support to our very special children and their families both at the Children’s Hospice and in their own homes.
"The Snowdrop Appeal will not only help raise vital money but will also create pretty blooms for the children to enjoy next year.”
Schools who participate in the Snowdrop Appeal receive a certificate and an information pack full of facts, puzzles and activities all relating to the Children’s Hospice.

PSNI ball raises £26,500 for Hospice Care
The PSNI have today presented a cheque worth £26,500 to Northern Ireland Hospice Care. The money was raised at a Chief Constable's ball event held in October last year in Belfast. Deputy Chief Constable Paul Leighton made the presentation today, he said: "We are delighted to support Northern Ireland Hospice Care in this way.
