Man jailed for sexually abusing daughter
A man has been jailed for nine years today after being found guilty of sexually abusing his daughter.
The 55-year-old former prison officer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found guilty by Belfast Crown Court of sexually abusing the girl over a three year period between 1977 and 1980.
The girl was just 11-years-old when the attacks started.
The man, who pleaded guilty to three specific charges of rape and seven of indecent assault, cannot be named in order to protect his daughter's identity.
He was placed on the sex offender's register for life.

The jury of eight men and four women at the Central Criminal Court, convicted the man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his children, of 80 sexual offences against the three victims, yesterday.

Man Charged After Glenarm Shooting
Detectives investigating the incident on Feystown Road on Monday, 25 November, have charged a 41-year-old man with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and criminal damage. The accused is due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday, 28 November.

Uproar As Child Abuse Brothers 'Released'
There's further controversy today as victims of sex abuse at the hands of a Fermanagh family are calling for a review of mental health legislation. They said they want a different way of dealing with sex offenders who, they feel, have escaped justice - as they claim is the case with two brothers deemed mentally unfit to plead.
