Alliance Appoints Farry Brexit Spokesperson
Alliance has appointed Stephen Farry MLA as its Brexit spokesperson ahead of the all-Ireland forum on the matter.
North Down MLA Dr Farry was appointed to the role by new Alliance Leader Naomi Long before the pair attend the Dublin event on Wednesday, 02 November, which has been organised by Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
Mrs Long said: "Alliance welcomes the creation of this forum and is committed to playing a full role in it.
"As a former Employment and Learning Minister and current Alliance spokesperson on the economy, Stephen Farry has the expertise needed to drive the party's policy and engagement on this issue in the time ahead. That's why he has been appointed to this vital role."
Man Found Guilty For Waste Offences In Co Armagh
A man from Co Armagh has been found guilty for waste offences.
Mr Bernard Hughes from Crossmaglen was made the subject of a £5,000 compensation order and received four months' sentence, suspended for three years, at Newry Magistrates' Court.
He was found guilty of keeping controlled waste without there being in place an exemption or licence.
On 4 February 2014, officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) carried out a site inspection on lands at Cullaville Road where they found controlled waste including waste clay, stone, vehicle batteries, vehicle tyres, numerous vehicle parts and End of Life Vehicles (scrap vehicles). All were present without the necessary permissions required by the NIEA.
Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted for claiming benefits he was not entitled to at Belfast Magistrates' Court.
Patrick Carlin claimed Jobseeker's Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £1,918 while failing to declare employment. He was fined £450 and ordered to pay an offender levy of £15.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.

Man Charged After Glenarm Shooting
Detectives investigating the incident on Feystown Road on Monday, 25 November, have charged a 41-year-old man with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and criminal damage. The accused is due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday, 28 November.
