Brexit: Taoiseach Hosting All-Ireland Talks
Taoiseach Enda Kenny is hosting an 'All Island Civic Dialogue' conference on Brexit in Dublin.
Approximately 300 politicians are attending the conference at the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham.
Speak ahead of the event, Sinn Fein President said Brexit is bad for jobs, trade, investment and services across Ireland.
Mr Adams said: "It has the potential to undermine much of the progress since the Good Friday Agreement.
“The people of the North voted to remain. The British government is ignoring this vote. This is undemocratic and wrong.
"Brexit is without precedent. The dialogue must be about more than the impact of Brexit. It must be about the alternative.
"It must be about how we ensure the north retains EU membership. the Government should be seeking a designated special status for the North within the EU.
"Irish unity is Sinn Féin's preference. Others have a different view. Securing designated special status for the North threatens no one’s constitutional preference.
"The EU has demonstrated flexibility. Mar eolas Denmark which is inside the EU while the region of Greenland is outside.
"The Irish Government and the EU must show the same level of imaginative thinking and creativity to ensure that the North remains within the EU.
"The national interest must be met. All Ireland must remain united in Europe."
