Sinn Fein: The Government Is Ignoring Brexit Health Warnings
Sinn Fein's Chris Hazzard MP has branded the UK Government's ignorance to the warnings of leading health organisations regarding the looming impact of Brexit as "deeply worrying".
It comes after NHS providers called for urgent talks with the Government to highlight the catastrophe that the UK's exit of the EU will cause.
"Just this week we have had the extremely worrying news that British Government Minister David Lidington reportedly informed Cabinet that the normal Dover - Calais trade route could be at 12% capacity for at least 6 months after the Brexit date next March," the South Down MP said. "This comes on the back of an extremely depressing Public Accounts Committee report on medicines earlier this year that found no evidence that the British government was adequately prepared for leaving the EU."
Mr Hazzard explained that NHS providers are "practically begging" the government to get its act together over Brexit, and said it is totally unacceptable that patients cannot be assured of continued access to the vital medicines they need.
"Yet again these failings will be hardest felt by citizens in the north of Ireland; there is an onus on An Taoiseach to finally deliver on his commitment that no citizen in the north would be left behind."

Pharmacist Sentenced For Drug Offences
A 27-year-old pharmacist from Belfast has been sentenced to 180 hours of community service for unlawfully possessing and stealing controlled prescription drugs. Adam Hanna pleaded guilty to charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Theft Act 1969. The offences took place at a North Belfast pharmacy between January and March 2024.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny is hosting an 'All Island Civic Dialogue' conference on Brexit in Dublin. Approximately 300 politicians are attending the conference at the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham. Speak ahead of the event, Sinn Fein President said Brexit is bad for jobs, trade, investment and services across Ireland.
