Two staff members have been stabbed during an attempted robbery at a chemist in west Belfast.
The incident happened at premises on the Falls Road at around 9.30am on Thursday, 06 April.
A man, armed with a knife, threatened and assaulted two workers.
A man, aged in his 50s, was stabbed in the chest, and the second victim, a man in his 40s, was stabbed in the arm.
Both victims have been taken to hospital, however their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested and is being detained by the police.
Sinn Féin MLA Fra McCann said: "I condemn outright this attempted robbery at McDonagh's Pharmacy at the junction of Falls Road and Islandbawn Street.
"A man armed with a knife who was in search of prescription drugs entered the premises and during the attempted robbery one of the male pharmacists was stabbed in the chest and has been taken to hospital.
"Other members of staff bravely tackled the robber and managed to restrain him until police arrived.
"This must have been a terrifying experience for all the pharmacy workers and customers who were in the pharmacy at the time.
"I would call on anybody who saw anything suspicious or has any information to bring it to the police.
"The thoughts and prayers of this community are with the injured man and we hope that he makes a full recovery."
