John McGuinness In 'Good Spirits' After Crash At North West 200

Road racer John McGuinness is believed to be in "good spirits" after he crashed during a practice session at the North West 200.

The collision happened during a Superbike practice session at Primrose Corner on Thursday, 11 May.

The 45-year-old has undergone surgery at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

His Honda racing team tweeted: "John is currently in theatre having his right tib/fib plated. He's in good spirits. Thank you for all the well wishes."

North West 200 Rider Brought To Hospital Following Practice Crash
A North West 200 rider has been airlifted to hospital following a crash during an opening practice session today, 15 May. The unnamed motorcyclist was involved in an incident with another driver at the University Corner section of the course and sustained some injuries. Practice was delayed for around 45 minutes following the incident.

Attempted Carjacking In West Belfast
Police are investigating an attempted carjacking in west Belfast on Tuesday, November 19th. At around 5:30pm, a man entered a parked car at Hillhead Court and attempted to steal it. A woman passenger was assaulted when she resisted the man's demands. The suspect, described as a man in his 20s wearing all black, fled the scene on foot.

English road racer John McGuinness has sustained a suspected broken leg in a collision at the North West 200. He crashed during the Superbike practice session on Thursday, 11 May. He has been taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital to be treated.

Crash Mars Start Of North West 200
A rider in the famous North West 200 motorcycle event has been very seriously hurt in a high speed crash. It happened during the final session of last night's practice sessions for the 600cc class. John Anderton, from Antrim, was travelling at over 100 mph on a fast section of the circuit at Station Corner at about 9.20pm on Tuesday.
