Over 3,400 People Turned Away From Polls In March
Over 3,400 people were turned away from polling stations on 02 March in Northern Ireland because they were not registered.
Over 60,000 voters were removed from the register in December 2016 as they had not updated their details.
The Electoral Commission is warning voters to check they are registered for the upcoming UK general election.
Ann Watt, Head of the Electoral Commission in Northern Ireland, said: "There is now less than one week left to register to vote for the upcoming UK general election. It was disappointing to report that almost 3,500 would-be voters did not get to have their say at the March election as they were not on the electoral register.
"Poll cards for the UK general election have already been issued so if you have not received one or if you are not sure if you're registered to vote then you should contact the Electoral Office helpline on 0800 4320 712."
