Security Alert In L'Derry Ends

A security alert in L'Derry has now ended after a suspicious object was declared an elaborate hoax.

Some residents were evacuated from their homes in the Glengalliagh Park area on Sunday, 02 July, however police said some people refused to leave and were advised to stay inside.

One resident walked close to the object just before a controlled explosion was carried out, but was not injured.

Investigations are continuing.

Clady Security Alert Ends After Object Declared 'Nothing Untoward'
A security alert in Clady, County Tyrone, has concluded following overnight investigations into a suspicious object found in the Urney Road area. The object was discovered shortly after 8 pm on Tuesday, 25 March, prompting a public safety operation that led to the evacuation of a number of residents from their homes.

Security Alert In Cookstown Ends
A security alert in Cookstown has now ended. The army bomb squad examined a suspicious object at Beechway on Sunday, 11 April, however "nothing untoward" was found. PSNI Inspector Michael Patton added: "It is believed the object may be a remnant from the First World War.

Security Alert In Newtownabbey Ends
A security alert in Newtownabbey has ended. A number of residents had to be evacuated from their homes in the Mayfield Village area on Thursday, 07 September, after a suspicious object was found. Police and army bomb disposal experts attended the scene and an object has been taken away for forensic examination.

Residents had to be evacuated from their homes and army bomb experts attended the scene. A controlled explosion was carried out on the object, however nothing harmful was found.
