Investigation Launched After Car Attacked In L'Derry

Police have launched an investigation after a taxi driver's car was attacked in L'Derry.

A number of youths jumped on the car as it travelled along the Northland Road at around 11.30pm on Saturday, 05 August.

The youths jumped on the bonnet of the vehicle and another broke the driver's side window.

The taxi driver is believed to have been in shock.

The PSNI are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A masked man armed with a gun approached the victim as he sat in his car in a lay-by. The man demanded money, struck him on the head and forced him into the boot of the vehicle.

New Test For Taxi Drivers Introduced
A test for new taxi drivers is to be introduced later this week, it has been announced. From 31 October, new taxi drivers will be required to pass a Taxi Driver Theory and Practical Driving Test, the DOE has said. The test will affect new entrants to the industry.
