Green Party Deputy Leader To Step Down
The Deputy Leader of the Green Party in Northern Ireland is to step down.
Claire Bailey MLA confirmed she is stepping aside ahead of the Party Conference and AGM later this month.
Ms Bailey has been deputy leader since November 2014 and was re-elected as MLA for South Belfast in May 2017.
She will remain a party member and MLA.
she said: "The time is right for me to step aside and allow another person to develop the role of deputy leader.
"It's also right that another person gets the opportunity to develop themselves through the role.
"I am a busy South Belfast MLA and will put all of my efforts and energy into doing my very best for the people of the area.
"I remain totally committed to the party and I look forward to the announcement of a new deputy leader."

The Green Party has elected a new deputy leader. Tanya Jones will take over from Claire Bailey after she stepped aside from the role. Ms Jones is a writer, former solicitor and well known anti-fracking activist. Tanya is chair of the Fermanagh and South Tyrone Green Party and lives with her family in Enniskillen.
