Public Urged To Be Vigilant After Bogus NIE Worker Steals Cash
Police are urging the public to be vigilant after a bogus worker, claiming to be from Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE), stole a sum of cash from a house in east Belfast.
On Wednesday, 08 November, a man claiming to be from NIE, called to a house to check the electric meter. While he was carrying out the check, another man called to the door and said he was from a firm named Sovereign. He was asking the resident to switch electric suppliers, however while the resident was at the door the other male, who was checking the meter, stole a sum of money from the house.
PSNI Constable Allen said Sovereign does not supply to Northern Ireland and called on the public to "check identification".
He said: "If you noticed anything suspicious in the area at around 10am, please contact your local police on 101 and quote reference number 360 8.11.17.
"If someone calls at your door and you are not sure who they are, do not let them in. Check ID if they have it. If they are let in, under no circumstances leave them alone. That is what they want.
"If you are in doubt of anyone's identity don't open the door to them."

Car Seized After Skidding Up To Police Check Point
A car has been seized after it skidded up to a police check point in Belfast. The careless driver also had no insurance or no driving licence. Police also found a small amount of cannabis in the vehicle. Ryanair Web Check-In Stalls
Passengers due to travel with Ryanair tomorrow (Thursday) are facing the possibility of a hefty extra fee should they fail to use the airline's online check-in facility in time. What has been described as essential "upgrade maintenance" work will close its website for 11 hours from 6pm on Wednesday until 5am tomorrow.

Ryanair Increases Baggage Charges
'Budget' airline Ryanair has announced that it has increased checked-in baggage and airport check-in fees for all new bookings. Ryanair's baggage fee has now increased from £5 to £6 per bag and the airport check-in fee will increase from £2 to £3.
