SF Delegation Meet Taoiseach To Discuss Political Crisis In NI

Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams said the process to move forward to form a powersharing at Stormont would be with a British/Irish intergovernmental conference.

Mr Adams was speaking following a meeting with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in Dublin on Wednesday, 15 November.

A delegation, which also included Mary Lou McDonald TD, and MLAs Michelle O'Neill and Conor Murphy, met with Mr Varadkar to discuss the political crisis in Northern Ireland.

Mr Adams said: "It is now time for the governments to act. If we are to re-establish the Executive, the role of the Irish Government will be decisive.

"The Irish Government are neither neutral or neutered on this matter. They need to make clear that the way forward is the full implementation of the agreements and the rights of citizens.

"These issues are not going away. Irish Government must now seek a formal meeting of the British Irish Intergovernmental Conference to secure rights and the implementation of previous agreements.

"Sinn Féin will also be meeting the British Prime Minister Theresa May on these issues next week."
