Appeal Issued After Baby's Ashes Stolen During Burglary In North Belfast

Police are appealing for information after the ashes of a baby girl were stolen from a house in north Belfast.

The burglary occurred at a property in the Ballygomartin road area between 6.15pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday, 11 December.

Police have described the incident as a "disgusting act".

The victims have been left "extremely distressed".

A PSNI spokesperson said: "We are making a direct appeal to whoever did this to, please, do the right thing and return the bag to police immediately.

"We are also appealing to anyone out there who knows anything about this, or anyone who may come across a small clear bag which they think may be that belonging to the victim, to call police at Tennent Street immediately on the non emergency number 101, quoting reference 1338 of 12/12/17.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

Police Appeal For Witnesses To North Belfast Fire
The PSNI have issued an appeal for witnesses following an arson attack on a property in north Belfast on Wednesday 05 September. Shortly before 9.45am it was reported that an unoccupied flat on Woodland Avenue was on fire. It is believed that entry had been gained to the property before the fire started in the kitchen area.
