UUP Slams Person Responsible For Killing A Swan In Co Antrim

The UUP has slammed the person responsible for killing a swan with a crossbow in Co Antrim.

On Antrim Town Facebook page, an image showed the animal at Loughshore with a crossbow bolt protruding from its head.

A search was carried out, however the swan was discovered dead on Tuesday, 12 December.

UUP Councillor Jim Montgomery described it as a "sickening act".

He said: "There is also the issue that someone with this warped mind has access to a crossbow and is prepared to use it in such a cowardly and cold-blooded manner.

"It is extremely important that the person responsible is caught and brought before the courts and given a sentence that reflects public outrage and disgust. I encourage anybody who knows anything about this incident to contact the PSNI on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
