Yellow Weather Warning For Fog Extended Across NI

The Met Office has extended a yellow weather warning for fog across Northern Ireland.

The warning remains in place from 3pm today, 11 January, until 3am on Friday, 12 January.

A number of flights have been cancelled and passengers are being advised to check with airlines before travelling.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Fog will persist in some parts of Northern Ireland during Thursday afternoon, thickening up towards dusk with the visibility falling below 100 metres in places. However, the fog will lift and clear from the west later on Thursday evening and into the early hours of Friday as winds strengthen."

The public and motorists are being advised to take extra care.

Consultation Launches To Introduce Changes To MOT Test
A consultation has launched to introduce changes to the MOT test on vehicles in Northern Ireland. The changes will include the testing of reverse lights and forward fog lamps, where fitted. Currently, reversing lamps and forward fog lamps, where fitted, are already required to be operational where a vehicle is used on a public road.

High Winds Expected As Storm Lorenzo Reaches NI
Traffic disruption is expected this afternoon as Storm Lorenzo batters Northern Ireland. Winds are set to pick up at around 3pm on Thursday, with a yellow weather warning in place throughout the evening. "A spell of strong south-easterly winds may bring some transport disruption later on Thursday," the Met Office said.

Thick Fog Affects Belfast Flights
A number of flights have been cancelled at George Best Belfast City Airport due to thick fog in England, Scotland and Wales. A number of flights have either been delayed or cancelled and passengers are being advised to check their flights before travelling to the airport. The Met Office has issued a weather warning until midday today, 02 November.
