Investigation Launched After 9-Year-Old Girl Approached In West Belfast

An investigation has launched after a nine-year-old girl was approached by a man in a black van in west Belfast.

The incident happened at the junction of Woodside and the pedestrian entrance of Woodside Park at around 4.45pm on Tuesday, 13 March.

The man got out of the van and offered the girl some sweets. He asked her who she was and where she lived.

The girl immediately ran home and the van drove out of the area.

It is believed he was driving a black transit van.

The suspect has been described as aged in his 40s and of skinny build. He was wearing a black long sleeve jumper, black trousers and a black beanie hat.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Attempted Carjacking In West Belfast
Police are investigating an attempted carjacking in west Belfast on Tuesday, November 19th. At around 5:30pm, a man entered a parked car at Hillhead Court and attempted to steal it. A woman passenger was assaulted when she resisted the man's demands. The suspect, described as a man in his 20s wearing all black, fled the scene on foot.

Investigation Launched Following Suspected Hit And Run In East Belfast
An investigation has been launched following a suspected hit and run collision in east Belfast. A woman and a young girl were knocked down at a pedestrian crossing on the Newtownards Road at around 8pm on Wednesday, 10 January. The black car failed to stay at the scene and made off in the direction of Dundonald.

Post Office Van Driver Hijacked In West Belfast
A post office van driver has been hijacked and threatened with a knife in west Belfast. The vehicle was stolen in Ross Road on Tuesday which was later found abandoned in the Valleyside Close area. A security alert was launched and the part of the Springfield Road was closed on Wednesday, however it has since been re-opened.
