DUP Leader Arlene Foster Attends LGBT Event At Stormont

DUP Leader Arlene Foster has attended a LGBT event at Stormont.

Ms Foster, who is the first DUP leader to attend an LGBT event, gave a speech at PinkNews' summer reception on Thursday, 28 June.

The DUP has been criticised by LGBT activists for its stance against same sex marriage in Northern Ireland.

During her speech in Stormont's Great Hall, Ms Foster said: "Just because we disagree on marriage does not mean that I don't value the LGBT+ community and it's certainly not a zero sum game as it is sometimes presented.

"And all I ask in return is that my and my party's views are also respected if not agreed with. Whilst we disagree this does not prevent us from finding common values to keep Northern Ireland moving forward.
