Man Arrested In Connection With L'Derry Shooting Incident
A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in L'Derry.
A number of shots were fired after a silver Peugeot rammed a black car near the entrance to Sevenoaks shortly after 7am on Tuesday, 24 July.
The driver of the black car managed to leave the area and drive to a local police station. There have been no reports of any injuries. The silver Peugeot was abandoned and set alight at Lincoln Court a short time later.
Police investigating the incident arrested a 50-year-old man in the city on suspicion of attempted murder on Wednesday, 25 July. He remains in police custody.
Anyone who was in the Sevenoaks or Lincoln Court areas on Tuesday morning and who witnessed any of the incidents, or anyone who has any information which could assist with the investigation, are asked to contact detectives at Strand Road on 101 quoting reference number 252 24/07/18.
Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.

The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of possessing of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an offence and assault on police.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Teenager Arrested After Murder In County Down
Police are treating the death of a man following an assault in County Down over the weekend as murder. The 32-year-old was attacked in Portaferry, shortly after midnight on Sunday. It is believed the victim was from Killyleagh. A 19-year-old has been arrested and taken to Musgrave police station in Belfast for questioning on suspicion of murder.

PSNI Cleared Of Failing To Return A Man To Jail
The PSNI have been cleared of failing to ensure a man was returned to jail after breaching the terms of his licence. The Police Ombudsman, Dr Michael Maguire, launched an investigation after learning that the man had not been returned to jail despite breaching his bail conditions by taking drugs and alcohol.

A man, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
