New Leisure Complex To Open In Newtownards In December
A new leisure complex in Newtownards, Co Down, is set to open in December.
An investment of more than £30 million has been made by Ards and North Down Borough Council to deliver the new Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing and Leisure Complex. The new development will include a contemporary gym and fitness studios, luxury spa with sensory areas; holistic and beauty therapies; six lane main pool and minor pool with moveable floors, a splash play area for toddlers and young children; a soft play area and blacklight adventure zone as well as a vibrant new 100 seat café.
There will also be an astro turf area called the Dome offering a range of marked spaces for games and sports. Focused on sports development activities for schools and the wider community it will help develop skills in a conducive indoor environment. A Diversity Play Zone with sensory garden, Pump Track for biking and Wheel Park for skateboarding, scooters, BMX and inline skating will feature in the outdoor space at the complex.
Mayor of Ards and North Down Borough Council Cllr Richard Smart said that the new complex will be a game changer for local residents. He said: "This project, which was first envisaged in 2006, is now only five months away from fruition. The new facilities will offer a tremendous boost for the social, leisure and economic wellbeing of those, not only living in Newtownards, but right across the Borough. This complex will quite literally transform the leisure provision in the Borough."

New Programmes For Supporting Businesses Launches
Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister, Arlene Foster, has launched a suite of seven new programmes aimed at supporting businesses in the Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council area. The programmes are supported by Invest Northern Ireland through the Local Economic Development (LED) measure of the EU Sustainable Competitiveness Programme.

100 Jobs Created At West Belfast Leisure Complex
Some 100 new roles will be created in west Belfast over the coming months as the Andersonstown Leisure Centre prepares for opening. GLL, the social enterprise that runs all of Belfast's leisure centres under the Better brand, is to recruit 100 people in both full and part-time roles.
