Shot Fired At Sinn Fein Office Condemned
Sinn Fein MLA Pat Sheehan has condemned the shooting at his constituency office in west Belfast on Sunday, 07 October, in which a man was shot in the leg in the same incident.
A man in his 30's sustained "potentially life-changing" injuries when he was shot in the leg in the Norglen Road/Monagh Crescent area of Belfast at around 11.30pm, before a shot was fired at Mr Sheehan's office.
"The people who carried out this attack have left a man with potentially life changing injuries," the Sinn Fein MLA said.
"They then recklessly fired a shot across the road and through the window of my constituency office, endangering anyone who may have been in the vicinity.
"This is an attack on the democratically expressed wishes of the people of this area.
"Sinn Fein will not be deterred by this mindless attack from providing services to the people of Turf Lodge and West Belfast by the thugs who carried out this attack."
Mr Sheehan also said the perpetrators have nothing to offer except "intimidation and mindless violence," and called on them to desist.
Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway into the paramilitary-style attack, following an earlier appeal for information and witnesses.
Detective Inspector McNally said: "Enquiries are continuing but police believe the incident is linked to the paramilitary style shooting which left a man in his 30's with potentially life changing injuries on Sunday 7 October."
