Family Escape Attempted Burglary In County Antrim

Two men, armed with what is believed to be a hammer, have attempted to break into a house in Newtownabbey while a young family were inside.

The culprits damaged the front door of the house in the Glenville Park area while trying to gain entry shortly after 2am, on the morning of Tuesday 13 November.

Failing to get into the house, the men fled on foot.

Two adults and a young child were in the house at the time but are uninjured.

Inspector Gilbert said: "Both suspects are described as being 5'10" in height and both wore dark-coloured tops.

"I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around this time and saw what happened, or anyone who has information they believe may assist our investigation to contact detectives in Antrim on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 75 of 13/11/18."

Witnesses can also provide evidence anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
