Man Charged Over Fatal County Monaghan Crash

A 34-year-old man from County Armagh has been charged with dangerous driving following the death of a married father in County Monaghan.

James Tommany, of Clay Road, Keady, faces four charges.

He was arrested following an incident on Main Street, Castleblayney, on Tuesday 27 November.

The defendant is accused of endangerment of a Garda, after he allegedly drove onto the road while an officer was holding onto the car in an attempt to prevent himself from falling from the fast-moving vehicle.

The dangerous driving caused the death of Stephen Marron, who died when the fleeing car collided with his.

Mr Tommany also faces two other charges, including assault causing harm to another person on 31 March 2018.

He was remanded in custody to Cloverhill district court next Wednesday, 05 December.
