Elderly Man Escapes Injury After Cookstown Arson Attack
An elderly man has escaped unharmed after an arson attack on his County Tyrone home involving two wheelie bins.
The incident occurred at a residential premises in the Beechway area of Cookstown in the early hours of Sunday 09 December, with police receiving the report shortly before 3.45am.
The two bins were placed at the front of the flat and set alight.
Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and extinguished the blaze.
Detective Sergeant Robinson said: "Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 321 9/12/18."
Information can also be passed to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Man Charged After Glenarm Shooting
Detectives investigating the incident on Feystown Road on Monday, 25 November, have charged a 41-year-old man with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and criminal damage. The accused is due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday, 28 November.

PSNI Appeal For Information After Cars Set Alight In North Belfast
The PSNI have appealed for information after four cars were set alight in north Belfast. Police say the suspected arson attack happened at around 22:30 on Tuesday night on the Whitewell Road. It is understood no one was injured in the incidents.

Family Escapes Harm In Moneymore Arson Attack
A family of five have managed to escape harm after an arson attack outside their home in Moneymore, County L'Derry early this morning. A car parked outside a house in Conyngham Street was deliberately set alight at around 3.30am, destroying the vehicle and also causing damage to the property.

Police have issued an appeal for information following an arson incident in L'Derry. A man is being treated in hospital for injuries he sustained while trying to extinguish a fire on a vehicle outside a house in the Sevenoaks area of the city in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Teenage woman escapes arson attack
A teenage woman has been treated for shock after her home was set alight by arsonists. The 18-year-old had to escape her Ballycraigy Gardens home in Newtownabbey after a flammable liquid was poured through the letter box at around 3.30pm on Sunday. Fire damage was caused to a hall while smoke damage affected the remainder of the house.
